Why do we need inbound links?

Search engines have been using linking as part of their algorithm for ranking websites even before Google got into the mix. Link popularity really took off after Google joined the dance with their link based Page Rank. This is one of the most important parts of the puzzle when it comes to premier ranking on Google. The concept is somewhat simple and is fairly easy to explain. The more inbound links one has coming from relevant places and from pages with a high page rank the more successful your website should be. This concept is called "Page Rank". Since Google is the most used search engine it is extremely important that your website has a good inbound linking strategy. So the moral of the story is to make sure you have inbound links and lots of them preferrably from pages with medium to high page ranks.
